Meet our Governors

The school opened in September 1994 and with the valued support of the County Council and the Local Authority, has become a model of excellence in nursery education.

The Governing Body of the Lincolnshire Maintained Nursery School Federation (LMNSF) meets each term either as a full board or as a committee.  At meetings an agenda is followed which involves feedback about how the school is progressing against the School Development Plan targets.

Governors also hear and question reports on how the school is supporting specific groups of pupils.  It is also the role of governors to oversee the financial management of the school and the safeguarding of all pupils. If you wish to read the minutes, please contact the Clerk to Governors via the nursery school.

The Instrument of Government (Updated in October 2023 due to the Federation of Gainsborough Nursery School and Wyndham Park Nursery School to create LMNSF) states that the Governing Body shall consist of 11 Governors as follows:

2 Parent Governors  /  1 Headteacher  /  1 Staff  /  1 Local Authority  /  6 Co-opted Governors

The Governing Body have not appointed any Associate Governors for the Academic Year 2023-24

The Governing Body appointed 2 committees and 1 Review Panel – other appeals committees will be appointed as and when required:

Finance, Premises and Personnel - Meets twice a year, the main functions of this committee are to consider and monitor the school budget, the buildings meet the statutory requirements and staffing including well-being.

Pay – Meets as necessary to review whole school pay decisions prior to reporting in fact to FGB

Heads Performance Management Panel – Meets once yearly and makes a recommendation to Pay Committee regarding Headteacher’s Pay decision.

The Full Governing Body ratifies decisions following recommendation from the committees/panel above (unless otherwise stated in School Policy/Terms of Reference), and all minutes are available in the school office, with the exception of confidential minutes.

Welcome from the Co-Chairs of Governors

Firstly, a warm welcome to Gainsboprough Nursery School of which we are honoured to be the elected Co-Chairs of Governors.  As part of the Lincolnshire Maintained Nursery School Federation, our values are focussed on children’s learning where all are motivated and nurtured to achieve in a supporting and family dedicated environment. Each of our Nursery Schools are individually unique and part of a collaborative family. We strive for excellent environments where every child can be their very best. We work alongside all staff to ensure that Gainsborough Nursery School offers the best possible start for your children.

The role of the Governors at Lincolnshire Maintained Nursery School Federation is to strategically lead Wyndham Park Nursery School to ensure financial stability, review the performance of pupils and staff and evaluate the progress that the school makes towards its aims and objectives which are laid out in the School Improvement Plan. Alongside this, the Governors act as a “critical friend” in which we aim to be a source of challenge, and support, to our Executive Head Teacher and Head of School.

We, as part of the Governing body, work with Laura Cook, Laura Crawford and all the staff to ensure the school continues to flourish and excel in the education it provides for your children.

We aim to ensure the Governors are approachable for parents and look forward to working with you all. Please do email us on WPNSGovernor@wyndhampark.lincs.sch.uk if you have any questions, comments or concerns and we will endeavour to answer as accurately and efficiently as we can.

In the meantime, we look forward to both meeting and hearing from you on your educational journey with us.
