Admission Criteria

Your 2-year-old can get free early education and childcare if you live in England and get one of the following benefits:

Income Support

income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)

income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

Universal Credit - if you and your partner have a combined income from work of less than £15,400 a year after tax

tax credits and you have an annual income of under £16,190 before tax

the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit

support through part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act

the Working Tax Credit 4-week run on (the payment you get when you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)

A child can also get free early education and childcare if any of the following apply:

they’re looked after by a local council

they have a current statement of special education needs (SEN) or an education, health and care (EHC) plan

they get Disability Living Allowance

they’ve left care under a special guardianship order, child arrangements order or adoption order

If you think that your child qualifies, you can complete an online application form at www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/2yearolds.

Places will be allocated on a strictly birth date order. If we are oversubscribed, names will be put on a waiting list.

The exceptions to the strictly birth date order are:
a) 2 year funded pupils.
b) Children in Public Care aged, if considered appropriate to meet the needs of the child.
c) Children with a ‘Children in Need’ plan, if considered appropriate to meet the needs of the child.
d) Children with Special Education Needs if considered appropriate to meet the child’s needs.
e) Children subject to a Common Assessment Framework if considered appropriate to meet the child’s needs.

The Governing body of Gainsborough Nursery School wish you to know that the criteria specified is strictly adhered to and that all applications received by 28th February will be discussed in one session (not on a first come basis). There is no legal requirement that 2 year old children must have a place in school and as such there is no right of appeal against a decision not to offer a child a place.
